NDC hasn’t explicitly stated that they won’t sign a peace agreement; we think they’ll sign the Peace Council

In anticipation of this year’s election, the National Peace Council has expressed hope that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the opposition, will finally sign the peace pact.

The party has made legitimate issues that will be taken into consideration, but the council believes that the party has not explicitly refused to sign the document.

The party has outlined some requirements that they feel must be met in order for them to even consider taking part in the exercise.

Asiedu Nketia, the national chairman of the NDC, has voiced skepticism about the efficacy of previous peace accords, claiming that their intended goals have not been met.

However, Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, the National Peace Council Chairman, voiced optimism in the NDC’s eventual participation in the peace process when addressing to journalists in Accra.

“The NDC hasn’t explicitly stated that it won’t sign. They have brought up some concerns, and we will talk about them and try to find solutions when we meet with them.

This is not something that should worry us too much, in my opinion. Our doors are open at all times. We interact with the parties, pay attention to what they have to say, and look for ways to resolve their complaints.

We shall deal with those that fall under our purview. We hope they sign the agreement even though there are some things that are out of our control,” he said.
