NDC Calls Out Bawumia: Debate Us on Market Projects in Ashanti Region

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged Dr. Alhaji Mamud Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to a debate on market projects in the Ashanti Region. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Secretary for the NDC, threw down the gauntlet at the 15th anniversary of the Umbrella Movement in Kumasi Kejetia.

The NDC highlighted its achievements in building major markets in the region, including Kejetia, Dubai, Tafo, Asawaase, and Atonsu markets. Dr. Amoakohene dared Dr. Bawumia to come forward and defend the NPP’s record on market development in the region.

“We have heard that Dr. Bawumia is challenging our flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, to a debate,” Dr. Amoakohene said. “But we want to debate him on the market projects first before we grant him that wish.”

The challenge has set the stage for a lively debate on the market projects in the region, with the NDC and NPP set to clash on their respective records and visions for the market sector.

Mr. Yaw Afari, the chairman for the Umbrella Movement in Kumasi Kejetia market, pleaded with the NDC to remember traders should they come into power. Nana Prempeh, chairman for combined Kejetia traders, also pleaded with the National Democratic Congress to ensure that peace prevails moving into the general election.
