The National Technical Working Committee (NTWC) on the GITFiC Agenda 2031 has successfully held its first series of meetings at the National AfCFTA Coordinating Office in Accra.
The meetings that were held from 26th to 29th August 2025, brought together key state institutions to drive Ghana’s leadership in Africa’s debt and trade agenda.
The Committee, co-chaired by Mr. Selasi Koffi Ackom, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana International Trade & Finance Conference (GITFiC), and Dr. Michael Kusi Appiah, Assistant Director of Research at the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), has representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana, Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Information Services Department, NDPC, and GITFiC.
The meetings focused on operationalizing the GITFiC Agenda 2031, a six-year framework designed to advance Africa’s role in the Global Debt Initiative (GDI), a programme developed By GITFiC with intellectual contributions from the United Nations and the African Development Bank.
It is also Strengthen AfCFTA Implementation Support through national curriculum adoption, student clubs, youth sensitization, and academic congresses.
Over the three sessions, members it adopted the name National Technical Working Committee (NTWC) to reflect the inclusive participation of ministries, departments, and agencies, confirmed that four years of the Agenda 2031 have already been integrated into Ghana’s national development plan through the NDPC and reviewed key documents including the GDI Position Paper, Agenda 2031, the 8th GITFiC Conference Communiqué, MOTAI review, and NDPC review.
They also agreed to a Terms of Reference (ToR) to guide operations and align institutional responsibilities, discussed financial and logistical considerations, as well as advocacy strategies to enhance Ghana’s role within the Global South and began preparations for the upcoming 9th GITFiC Conference, which will also host the 2nd Global Debt Initiative Dialogue and the 1st AfCFTA Student Congress in Accra later this year.
The NTWC reaffirmed its commitment to deliver high-level impact and ensure coordinated national action under Agenda 2031.
Members also resolved to enhance collaboration and maintain continuous engagement through a dedicated digital platform.
The outcomes of the meetings will be submitted to the Office of the President as part of Ghana’s strategic roadmap to advance debt reforms, trade integration, and economic diplomacy across Africa and the Global South.
