Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vice presidential candidate, has slammed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its catastrophic failure to develop Obuasi. Addressing a massive campaign rally in Obuasi, NAPO, as he’s popularly known, painted a stark picture of the NDC’s neglect, highlighting the devastating impact of their tenure.
NDC’s Legacy of Neglect
– Collapse of Anglo Gold Ashanti
– Neglect of critical infrastructure projects
– Failure to harness Obuasi’s gold resources for local benefit
These failures, NAPO emphasized, have left Obuasi impoverished. In contrast, the NPP has achieved transformative developments, including:
– Revitalization of Anglo Gold Ashanti
– Construction of critical roads
– Revitalization of Obuasi’s economy
Notably, AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi mine launched a ten-year socio-economic development plan in 2022, showcasing the NPP’s commitment to Obuasi’s growth. NAPO urged Obuasi residents to reject the NDC’s legacy of neglect and embrace the NPP’s vision for progress. “Obuasi deserves better,” NAPO emphasized. “Let’s choose development over decay.”
As the 2024 elections approach, Obuasi residents will decide between the NDC’s history of neglect and the NPP’s promise of prosperity.
