Madam Charity Darko, the Corporate Services Advisor for the Northern Sector, MTN Ghana, on Tuesday reminded customers of the company to be mindful of the growing activities of fraudsters in online transactions.
She asked the customers not to entertain unknown mobile phone calls and endeavour to keep their MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) Wallet safe, by ensuring that they did not give out their secret codes to anyone including MTN officials.
MTN MoMo is a secure electronic service that enables MTN MoMo wallet holders to store funds, send and receive money, make payments and do several other transactions simply using their mobile phones.
Madam Darko emphasised that there was no way customers could be defrauded, if they remained watchful and kept their generated MoMo secret codes safe to themselves.
Interacting with media practitioners and journalists during a visit to some local radio stations in Sunyani, she emphasised that the company cherished its loyal and potential customers, asking them to stay alert at all times.
Madam Darko’s visit took her to the Sompa FM, Service Radio, Ark FM, Radio BAR, and the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Regional Office in Sunyani, explaining that her visit was to help strengthen the MTN’s long standing relationship with the media, individual journalists, station managers and editors.
She urged the media to help intensify education on the growing activities of fraudsters and to enlighten innocent and unsuspected customers and protect them against fraud and other online scams.
Most of the issues that erupted during the interactions centered on MTN’s mobile service network, MoMo fraud and data charges.
Some of the stations managers called on the company to open more branches in Sunyani and parts of the Bono Region to serve its growing custom base.
