Telecommunication service operator MTN Ghana, as part of its annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme, has donated school uniforms to pupils of Katinguli R/C and Baale L/A Primary Schools in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.
The donation formed part of MTN’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care, an annual initiative held from June 1 to 21 across the MTN footprint in Africa and the Middle East.
During this period, employees volunteer their time and resources to address pressing needs in underserved communities, demonstrating the company’s commitment to social responsibility beyond telecommunications.
It was a touching moment for many of the beneficiaries, especially those who previously did not own school uniforms as staff of the telecommunications giant handed over what, for some, were their very first school uniforms.
Smiles lit up the children’s faces as they expressed deep appreciation for the kind gesture, which is bound to leave a lasting impression on their academic journey.
The 2025 edition, themed “Connecting at the Root: Connecting Communities Through the Use of Digital Tools,” emphasises that genuine connection transcends digital signals and devices.
It is about inclusion and empowerment for every Ghanaian, regardless of location or background.
Guided by this theme, MTN Ghana extended support to pupils of the two schools in Yendi by addressing one of their most critical educational needs: school uniforms.
Mr. Mohammed Bawa Ziblim, Headteacher of Katinguli R/C Primary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the school.
He used the opportunity to make an earnest appeal for a six-unit classroom block, noting that pupils currently study under trees due to lack of infrastructure.
“We are passionately appealing to MTN Ghana to come to our aid with at least a six-unit classroom block to accommodate both lower and upper primary pupils,” he said.
Mr. Dauda Shani, Headteacher of Baale L/A Primary School, echoed the sentiment, thanking MTN for the donation while also appealing for a new classroom to replace their current makeshift structure.
Mr. Uboi Baabe, speaking on behalf of both Katinguli and Baale communities, also expressed appreciation and joined in the call for classroom infrastructure to further improve the quality of education in the area.
