MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to the Ada Asafotufiami Festival with a donation to the Ada Traditional Council in support of the celebration of this year’s festival.
The donation, presented at a short ceremony in Big Ada, includes a cheque of GH¢30,000, MTN airtime worth GH¢2,000, and a hamper of assorted drinks.
Mr. Francis Gyan, the Greater Accra Regional Sales Manager of MTN Ghana, who led the delegation, said the gesture forms part of the company’s broader commitment to cultural preservation and community development.
He noted that the MTN Ghana has supported the Asafotufiami Festival for the past 18 years, recognising it as a powerful symbol of valour, unity, and heritage.
“As you celebrate the 88th edition of this great festival, we join you in honouring a legacy that embraces both the old and the new, uniting generations under the banner of art and heritage,” Mr. Gyan said.
He emphasised the importance of traditional festivals in sustaining Ghana’s cultural identity while promoting tourism and stimulating local economic activity, noting that they hope to help sustain these invaluable traditions while also stimulating economic activity in the regions they serve through their presentation.
Mr. Gyan also announced that MTN would set up customer experience centres at vantage points in the Ada area to offer personalised services during the festival and will also engage the community on mobile money (MoMo) fraud awareness and digital literacy, including the use of the MyMTN app.
Nene Agudey Obitchere III, the Manklalo of the Ada Traditional Area and Chairman of the Asafotufiami Planning Committee, receiving the items on behalf of the Paramount Chief, Djetse Abram Kabu Akuaku III, expressed gratitude to MTN for its consistent support.
He appealed to the company to consider taking up the lead sponsor role of the festival in future editions, as it had done in the past.
