MP raises funds to rehabilitate Mantukwa Basic School

Madam Millicent Amankwah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West Constituency, has raised GHC200,000 for the rehabilitation of the Mantukwa Municipal Assembly Basic School in the area.

This is because part of the school facility was destroyed by the rains, leading to disruption in teaching and learning.

During a visit to the school, Madam Amankwah said she personally contributed GHC100,000, and expressed appreciation to Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, the founder and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International, for contributing an additional GHC100,000 for the project.

She noted that the condition of some of the classroom blocks were very appalling and posed great danger to the lives of the teachers and school children and gave an assurance to ensure that the affected classroom blocks and other structures would be renovated as soon as possible.

“The school children deserve a safe and conducive academic environment to study,” Madam Amankwah stated, saying a local education committee would be formed for the execution of the project.

She said the committee would also engage with parents, teachers, and other key stakeholders to promote the development of education in the area and called on corporate bodies and Non-governmental Organisations to support the course.
