MIHOSO partners health workers for HPV vaccination in Dormaa East

The MIHOSO International Foundation, a health-centered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has joined health workers of the Dormaa East District Health Directorate in the Bono Region, to administer the HPV vaccine among eligible girls in some basic schools.

The NGO supported the exercise and together with the health workers, vaccinated girls aged between nine and 14 years.

They visited the Nsesereso-Nsuam Basic, Asuotiano Methodist Girls and the Smart Child Academy Basic Schools respectively.

In interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the vaccination exercise at Asuotiano, Mr Thomas Benarkuu, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MIHOSO, urged families to cooperate and support the exercise by allowing their eligible girls to be vaccinated.

He assured them of the safety of the HPV vaccine which had also been proven to be efficacious in preventing cervical cancers and advised the basic schools in the district, to support the exercise.

Mr Benarkuu said the foundation remained committed to helping the nation achieve useful health outcomes and lauded the enthusiasm of the schools and the learners towards the exercise.

He said: “Our support is part of the MIHOSO’s commitment to promoting community health and vaccine literacy across the Dormaa East District”.

Mr Benarkuu also used the opportunity to educate the students, teachers, and communities on the importance of HPV and adult vaccination.
