Methodist Bishop urges Ghanaians to stay united during difficult time

The Right Reverend Dr. Samuel Yaw Dua Dodd, Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Tarkwa Diocese, has urged Ghanaians to remain united as they mourn the passing of the eight heroes.
He said the helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, was a big loss to the nation because all the victims, were young men, who were working for the nation.
“These were people who were seriously as the President John Dramani Mahama will say supporting to reset and put the nation on the right path.
“Ghanaians may not understand why we lost those eight heroes, but we the Methodist believe in the last days, the good Lord will make it plain to us” Bishop Rt Rev Dodd said.
He expressed condolences to the President, bereaved families, and members of the ruling government on this tragic loss, adding, “In these difficult times, let us set aside partisan issues and mourn with families who have lost their loved ones.”
Bishop Rt Rev Dodd encouraged the nation to forge ahead, thinking about how to minimise such painful tragedies in the future.
Meanwhile, the DNA reports of all the eight individuals who lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash have been brought to Accra from South Africa, where forensic examination was conducted to help identify the bodies which were badly burned.
In accordance with Islamic tradition the late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator have been laid to rest at the military cemetery in Accra.
The other six officials who passed on when the Ghana Air Force helicopter crashed in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region would be laid to rest on Friday August 15, 2025.
