Marwako Fast Food’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has expressed dissent over the Food and Drugs Authority’s (FDA) investigation into the food poisoning incident at Marwako’s East Legon branch in May 2022. Lamptey has disputed the FDA’s findings, suggesting bias and calling for an independent investigation to ensure a fair and impartial probe.
In May 2022, multiple customers reported falling ill after consuming food from Marwako’s East Legon branch, prompting the FDA to investigate. The FDA’s probe revealed poor sanitation, storage, and microbial infestation at Marwako’s East Legon, Abelenkpe, and La branches. The authority subsequently shut down the East Legon branch and imposed regulatory sanctions on Marwako.
Lamptey has challenged the FDA’s investigation, citing concerns over the fairness and accuracy of the findings. He alleges that the FDA’s actions are intended to damage Marwako’s brand and reputation. Lamptey claims that the FDA’s investigation was flawed and did not follow proper procedures, leading to an unfair outcome.
Lamptey has called for an independent investigation into the incident, stating that Marwako is committed to ensuring the safety and quality of their food. He believes that an independent probe will provide a more accurate and unbiased account of the events, allowing Marwako to address any legitimate concerns and improve their operations.
