Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to establish an annual national day of prayer and thanksgiving, bringing together all faiths to express gratitude and seek divine guidance for Ghana.
At an engagement with religious leaders in Ho, Volta Region, Mahama emphasized the importance of thanksgiving, citing biblical teachings and international examples. He shared his experiences attending national thanksgiving and prayer events in the US and Zambia, inspiring him to initiate a similar tradition in Ghana.
Mahama believes this collective prayer and thanksgiving will invoke God’s blessings and prosperity for the nation. The event will be held for both Christian and Muslim communities, allowing all to intercede for God’s guidance and prosperity.
Mahama also urged voters to elect leaders they can trust, stressing the crucial role of integrity and transparency in leadership. He criticized the current government’s handling of the banking sector crisis and emphasized the need for discerning decision-making.
The religious leaders praised Mahama’s peaceful campaign and presented him with a Bible, encouraging him to trust in the Lord. The Muslim community also expressed support for Mahama and the NDC, calling for justice and peace.
