The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to enhance the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy by abolishing the double-track system. This pledge was made during the launch of the NDC’s 2024 campaign in Tamale, where Mahama assured the crowd that he would work to ensure all SHS students can attend school simultaneously.
Mahama emphasized that he does not intend to cancel the Free SHS program, which has given many Ghanaians hope and trust in his leadership. Instead, he vowed to improve the policy by removing the double-track system, which has been a subject of controversy since its introduction.
The former president expressed his desire to avoid a situation where students have to stay home for four months before returning to school. He believes that every child deserves the opportunity to attend school without interruptions, and he is committed to making that a reality.
Mahama’s promise has been met with enthusiasm from NDC supporters, who have assured him of their votes in the upcoming election. The crowd at the Tamale Jubilee Park was massive, and many members expressed their happiness with Mahama’s pledge to improve the Free SHS policy.
