A collaborative effort between the Krachi East member of parliament (MP), Mr. Nelson Kofi Djabab, and the Lordina Mahama Foundation has taken a significant step forward with the inspection of about 15-20 hectares land to construct a maternity and children’s ward in Asukawkaw.

The project was a result of courtesy call paid to the Paramount Chief of Akroso Traditional Council, Nana Odam-Gyamfi, by a team led by Madam Priscilla Santuo Okra, and the Krachi East MP.

Madam Okra, the Administrator for the office of the First Lady and Board Secretary of the Foundation, emphasised the Foundation’s commitment to tangible work, prioritizing the needs of women and children.

She told the media that, the construction of the maternity ward is expected to begin soon and will be completed within six months, with a projected handover date of December 2025.

She said the new facility when completed will provide much-needed medical care and support to the community, reflecting the commitment of both the MP and the foundation to improving healthcare infrastructure in the area.

Ms. Jacqueline Abapanyin, a midwife, described the current state of the labour room at the Asukawkaw clinic as inadequate, highlighting the challenges faced by expectant mothers and healthcare workers.
