LilWin opts for out-of-court settlement in ₵5 million defamation case with Martha Ankomah

Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has reportedly chosen an out-of-court settlement with actress Martha Ankomah regarding the ₵5 million defamation suit filed against him.

According to a post by GHOne on its X handle, the Accra High Court was informed of this decision on July 31, 2024, the day the case was scheduled to be heard following a Case Management Conference on July 25. Justice Forson Agyapong Baah, the presiding judge, had previously ordered LilWin to be notified of the hearing and provided with court notes, as he was absent and unrepresented at the previous session.

The defamation lawsuit was initiated by Martha Ankomah after LilWin made derogatory remarks about her in a viral video. Ankomah claims these comments tarnished her reputation and that of the textile brand GTP. She is seeking GH¢5 million in damages, both compensatory and aggravated, along with an apology, a retraction, and an injunction to prevent further defamatory statements.

The incident originated from a response by LilWin to Ankomah’s comments on Accra FM, where she expressed interest in collaborating with Kumawood actors due to their compelling storylines. In response, LilWin launched into a tirade of insults against the actress, prompting her to file the suit.
