Legal Aid Week 2025 to champion justice for women and girls

The Legal Aid Commission, with support from GIZ Ghana, has announced the celebration of the 2025 Legal Aid Week, scheduled from Monday, October 27 to Sunday, November 2, 2025.
It is on the theme: “The Role of the Legal Aid Commission in Enhancing Access to Justice for Women and Girls in Ghana: Harnessing the Maputo Protocol.”
The national campaign, guided by the slogan, “Justice for Her, Progress for All,” aims to raise awareness about the Commission’s critical role in promoting equal access to justice, particularly for women and girls.
The weeklong celebration would include public education, stakeholder engagements, and community outreach activities across key institutions in the Volta Region.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mr Godwin Kploble, the Volta Regional Director of the Commission, said the initiative sought to make justice accessible to all, especially vulnerable groups.

“Our focus this year is clear — ensuring that women and girls know their rights and have the means to defend them,” the official said.
“Through education and free legal services, we are working to bridge the gap between the law and the people it serves.”
The celebration would feature several activities, beginning with radio sensitization to educate the public on the role of the Legal Aid Commission.
The team would also visit market squares to engage traders and share educational materials.
An event, dubbed “The Legal Clinic,” would take place at the Ho High Court, offering free legal advice with participation from justice sector stakeholders.
On Thursday, outreach sessions would be held at OLA Senior High and Mawuli Schools to educate students about their rights and responsibilities.
The week would conclude on Friday October 31, with a community engagement at Klefe Achatime, bringing legal assistance directly to residents.
The Legal Aid Commission urged the public to take advantage of the celebration to seek legal advice and learn more about their rights.
