Mr. Isaac Boamah Amanquah, the Nkwanta South Municipal Forestry Manager, has called for collaboration from fringe communities to protect the forest.
In an interview, Mr. Amanquah noted that while forest guards were essential, community support was crucial for effective conservation strategy.
Mr. Amanquah encouraged community members to visit forestry offices for seedlings, promoting a collaborative approach to environmental sustainability.
He stressed that communities benefited from forests and should take an active role in protecting them.
Mr. Joseph Awal Antwi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nkwanta South, urged residents to participate in the “Tree for Life” initiative, emphasizing the importance of protecting forests for Ghana’s future.
He warned that illegal logging would face severe sanctions and encouraged everyone to plant at least one tree.
Nana Kowura Odamba II, Paramount Chief of Ntrubo Traditional Area, called on the youth to engage more in agriculture, highlighting its potential to reduce unemployment and create jobs.
He also stressed the need to protect sacred forests and encouraged tree planting to ensure a healthier environment.
