Lamine Yamal Out for Up to a Month with Ankle Injury

FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is expected to be out for three to four weeks after injuring his right ankle in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Leganes in La Liga.

“Tests carried out on Monday morning have revealed a grade 1 injury to a ligament in his ankle,” FC Barcelona said in a statement on Monday.
The club estimated he would be out for four weeks, meaning he will miss FC Barcelona’s final match of the year against Atlético Madrid on Saturday.

Barcelona face fourth-placed Barbastro in the Copa del Rey round of 16 on January 4 before travelling to Jeddah for the four-team Spanish Super Cup.

The 17-year-old Yamal injured his ankle during a first-half clash against Leganes but continued to play despite the pain until he was substituted in the 75th minute.

Barcelona remain top of La Liga despite winning just one of their last six matches, a run that sees Atlético level with a game in hand.
Real Madrid are a point behind the top two and also have a game in hand over Barcelona.
