Kumawood actor Okomfo Kolege remarries two years after wife’s tragic death

Social media has erupted with reactions following viral videos from the wedding of Kumawood actor Collins Oteng, popularly known as Okomfo Kolege.

The actor tied the knot in a private traditional ceremony on October 20, 2024, surrounded by close friends and family. His new wife stunned in a two-piece kente gown, while Kolege complemented her in a regal kente outfit. The couple’s joyful poses in the photos have since captured public attention.

However, not all netizens are pleased with the actor’s decision to remarry. Some have criticized him for moving on too quickly, recalling his emotional grief following the loss of his wife two years ago. They argue that his decision to remarry contradicts his earlier expressions of sorrow.

On the other hand, many have defended Kolege, stating that two years is ample time to heal and rebuild one’s life. In a prior interview with Delay, Okomfo Kolege expressed his struggles with anxiety about marriage after his wife’s passing. He admitted that the idea of settling down again terrified him.

“We are praying about it. The fear is overwhelming. I faced a lot as a young man, and then this happened. I’m a young guy whose wife has passed away. This was supposed to happen much later in life,” he said.

In another conversation with actor Kwaku Manu, Kolege disclosed, “I don’t even think about settling down again. The fear of marriage and childbirth grips me. Even seeing someone who resembles my late wife startles me because I loved her deeply.”

He also recounted how encountering pregnant women triggers unsettling emotions. “Whenever I see a pregnant woman, I just watch her. Recently, I stopped my car from a distance to allow a pregnant woman to cross, even though she was nowhere near my car.”

Okomfo Kolege lost his wife, Millicent Oteng, on November 17, 2022, during childbirth. In an interview with Kwaku Manu, Kolege revealed that her sudden passing was caused by a surge in blood pressure during labor, which resulted in nerve damage in her head.
