Kumasi Race Course Traders Issue Ultimatum to Government

At a packed press conference today, traders at the Kumasi Race Course market sounded a warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) – “Do the needful or forget about our vote.” The traders, frustrated with the deplorable state of their roads, sanitation, and stalled central market project, threatened to withdraw their support for the government if their concerns are not addressed.

The traders, who hailed from various associations within the market, praised the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their efforts in developing the market during their tenure, despite the Ashanti region not being their stronghold. They lamented that the current government has neglected their needs, leaving them with no choice but to speak out.

“We are not politicians, but we know what is good for our business and our community,” said Afia Konadu, a leader of the traders. “We gave the NPP our vote, but they have failed to deliver on their promises. We need better roads, improved sanitation, and a functional central market. If they cannot do the needful, we will not hesitate to withdraw our support.”

The traders presented a petition to the government, outlining their grievances and demanding immediate action. They vowed to hold the government accountable for their campaign promises and warned that their votes are not guaranteed in the next election.

The press conference was attended by various stakeholders, including market associations, traditional leaders, and community members, all of whom showed solidarity with the traders. The event sent a strong message to the government that the traders will no longer be ignored.

As the traders chanted “Do the needful or forget about our vote,” it was clear that their patience has worn thin. The government must now respond to their demands and show that they value the support of the Kumasi Race Course traders. The fate of their votes hangs in the balance.
