Mr Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has presented some items to the 10 clan houses at Kpone ahead of the 2025 Homowo festival.
The items which were presented on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) included bags of maize, bags of palm nuts, boxes of bottled water, schnapps, assorted drinks and a cash donation of GHs1000.00 to each clan.
In a short event to present the items, the MCE extended warm greetings from the President to the chiefs and people of the Kpone Traditional Area.
Mr Morton said the festive season brought blessings and best wishes to the people and urged the residents to ensure they celebrated the occasion in moderation, to maintain the peace and stability within the traditional area.
He urged the traditional authorities to always preserve their customs and traditions to ensure the next generation were guided by their principles.
He observed that the people of Kpone had dynamic customs and traditions that must not be diluted with foreign elements by the people or the traditional authorities, urging that the best way to preserve them was to inculcate such practices into the younger generation.
The MCE expressed the Assembly’s readiness to support and preserve the values of the Kpone Homowo festival, to boost tourism for the benefit of the traditional area.
He further advised residents to respect the current ban on noisemaking and drumming, saying that it would soon be lifted, signifying the actual commencement of the 2025 Kpone Homowo festival celebrations.
Mr Morton extended an invite to Ghanaians and tourists to visit Kpone and celebrate the festival with them.
