Kofi Akpaloo, the Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has entreated the Electoral Commission of Ghana to reprint the presidential ballot papers for the 2024 elections, raising concerns over the presence of the late Madam Akua Donkor candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), on the list.
Akpaloo argues that maintaining the image of Akua Donkor could influence the outcome of the election. He also argues that if a new GFP carrier had been approved to be, the EC would have reprinted the ballots to reflect this change.
Akpaloo made his request at a press conference on Wednesday, November 13, stressing that a reprint would preserve the integrity of the ballot paper and avoid potential voter confusion.
“Having a ballot paper with the picture of Akua Donkor creates a lot of problems in the country. People will vote for Akua Donkor who we all know is no longer alive so how will they count? Because for presidential elections, we do the calculations based on the percentage that each candidate collects.
« Will we say that the votes cast will be removed from the ballot or will they be counted?
“We do not want a situation where a losing candidate says that he will not accept the results because of the percentages, so we are asking the EC to reprint the new ballots without Akua Donkor’s photo.
