The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) is set to organise a massive clean-up exercise on Saturday, June 21, 2025, ahead of the visit of Head of State and King of Eswatini, King Mswati III to Kumasi.
King Mswati III is scheduled to pay a four-day state visit to Ghana next week.
While in the country, the King will visit Kumasi where he will be hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It is against this background that the KMA is taking steps to keep the city clean ahead of the royal visit.
A statement issued by the Assembly and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said all shops and commercial establishments would be closed on Saturday from 0600 to 1200 hours to ensure collective participation in the exercise.
The statement said the exercise sought to ensure that the city remained clean and welcoming to honour the King of Eswatini.
The KMA, therefore, called on citizens of Kumasi to massively show up for the exercise.
“We invite the good people of Kumasi to join hands in making this exercise a success. Together, we can showcase our hospitality, culture and pride in our clean city,” the statement urged.
