Ketu South MP and Chiefs to welcome Chinese Ambassador to inspect proposed site

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbuigah Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V, are expected to welcome the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Tong Defa, on an inspection tour of the proposed site for the Aflao Modern Market project.
The inspection tour would take place on Thursday, July 31, at Aflao, the Municipal capital.
A statement signed by Mr. Bright Dzila, the Communication Officer of the Ketu South Constituency of National Democratic Congress, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said that the visit would provide Ambassador Tong Defa the opportunity to assess the project site and engage with key stakeholders.
“The visit will enable the ambassador to gain a deeper understanding of the project’s requirements and potential impact on the community,” he stated.
He indicated that the inspection tour would reaffirm the shared commitment and vision of President Mahama to transform Aflao into a modern commercial hub while the project when completed would be expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and improve the lives of residents.
It was also stated that the Aflao Modern Market Project would receive financial support of USD 30 million grant from the Government of the People’s Republic of China with the grant demonstrating the strong partnership between Ghana and China with the commitment to promote economic development in the region.


“The Ketu South MP, Dzifa Gomashie has been instrumental in advocating for the development of Aflao, her efforts have helped to bring attention to the needs of the community and secure support for the project.”
Mr. Dzila stated that the Aflao Modern Market Project was expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and improve the lives of residents and the project would provide a modern and efficient market infrastructure to create opportunities for traders, youths and improve the overall business environment within the Volta Region and Ghana at large.
He indicated that the two countries were working together to promote economic development and improve the lives of Ghanaians in all areas to enhance the overall quality of life for residents in the Ketu South municipality and beyond.
He explained that the project has the potential to transform Aflao into a modern commercial hub, and the support from the Chinese government has showcased a strong partnership between Ghana and China.
It was also revealed that the Chinese Ambassador would be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa for the inspection.
