Keta: Sports enthusiasts express readiness for the start of foreign leagues

The countdown has begun for the start of the top five European football leagues, and sports enthusiasts in Keta Municipality of the Volta Region were eagerly waiting to cheer on their favourite teams.
The excitement as observed by the Ghana News Agency among various fans was palpable with many expressing their readiness for the new season.
Mr John Letsa, an Arsenal fan, told the GNA that many other fans were excited for the return of the top five European leagues, which were expected to kick-off on Friday, August 15, at various venues.
“The La Liga in Spain, Premier League in England, and Ligue 1 in France, will start on Friday, and August 16, 2025, while Serie A in Italy and Bundesliga in Germany are expected to start on August 22 and 23 respectively,” he said.
He explained that the previous 2024/2025 football season concluded, with La Liga been won by FC Barcelona, Premier League by Liverpool, Ligue 1 by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Serie A by Napoli and Bundesliga by the Bayern Munich.
He said many fans of top teams like Liverpool, FC Barcelona, and Bayern Munich were hoping their teams would continue their dominance in their respective leagues.
“Teams like Arsenal and Manchester City are looking to make a strong comeback. Other supporters are filled with anticipation, expecting thrilling matches and dramatic turns of events.”


Mr Letsa urged the government and DStv hierarchy to as a matter of urgency resolve their broadcasting rights issues to ensure that fans across the continent could watch their favourite teams in action without any disruptions.
Madam Abigail Mensah, another strong Barcelona fan, said that all sports lovers were eagerly looking forward to the upcoming matches, including clashes between top teams like Liverpool versus Manchester City, PSG versus Monaco, Chelsea versus Manchester United, and Spanish el-clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
She said the Uefa Champions League was also set to begin and the top teams from each league would be vying for European glory. The Champions’ League group stage would start on September 17, while the Europa League group stage begins on September 25.
She said many fans were showing their enthusiasm and excitement with others predicting their top four teams in the upcoming season with the energy being electrifying worldwide towards the leagues.
Madam Mensah said the transfer window has so far seen some significant signings, with teams bolstering their squads for the new season while several moves of players from one club to another had also generated immense interest and excitement among fans.
Meanwhile, the European football leagues has generated immense excitement among sports enthusiasts with top teams and players set to clash, and fans in Keta municipality were eagerly anticipating the thrilling matches and dramatic turns of events that the new season promises to deliver.
