Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta Constituency in the Volta Region, has announced that work is near completion on a rural electrification project to connect several communities to the national grid.
The initiative, according to him, was to bring reliable electricity supply to areas that have been without power for years.
Mr. Gakpey said that some of the communities benefiting from the electrification project included Anyako-Konu, Kporgui, Akotogbor, Lawoshime, Agornugble Ayidiga, Mamime, Hagodzi, Wonyagor, among others.
“These communities will finally have access to reliable electricity, which will significantly improve their quality of life,” he stated.
He revealed that pre-commissioning of transformers was about to begin in Anyako-Konu, Kporgui, and Akotogbor to mark a significant milestone in the project as well as bring the communities closer to having electricity.

Mr. Gakpey emphasised that he was committed to ensuring that every community within the Keta municipalit benefited from reliable electricity power to improve the quality of life for more development in all communities.
“This electrification project is one of my priority areas, l am posed to ensure that all communities in my area are not left behind in terms of access to electricity.”
He further appreciated the engagement with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition which facilitated the extension of power to the areas and his personal procurement of materials for the project which demonstrated his dedication to the project.
He said that in addition to connecting new communities to the grid, the project would also involve system improvements to stabilise power supply in areas such as Anyako Konu and Anlo-Afiadenyigba (Avake Kpota) to benefit from the installation of a 50kVA transformer for constant and regular power.
Some assembly members and other beneficiary communities Ghana News Agency engaged expressed excitement over the project which would have a significant impact on the communities to enable them to access necessities like lighting and power for their homes and businesses.
They said the project would improve their overall quality of life and provide opportunities for economic growth.
GNA also gathered that the goal of the project was to provide reliable electricity to all communities in the Keta Constituency and the efforts of the MP showcasing his dedications and commitment to improving the lives of constituents and promoting economic development of the areas.
