Kennedy Agyapong: “I’d be selfish not to campaign for Bawumia

In a passionate address to supporters at Abossey Okai, former NPP flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong declared that he would be selfish if he didn’t campaign for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid. Emphasizing his commitment to party unity, Agyapong stated, “As a member of the NPP, it’s my duty to support our candidate. We must all rally behind Dr. Bawumia to ensure our party’s continued success.”

Agyapong joined forces with Running Mate Matthew Opoku Prempeh at the campaign event, where he reassured the crowd that Dr. Bawumia is dedicated to addressing their concerns. He highlighted Bawumia’s campaign promises, including flat taxes and reduced taxes on spare parts, which will alleviate burdens on businesses and improve economic conditions.

The Assin Central MP praised the NPP’s achievements under President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, stressing the need for continuity and progress. He urged supporters to reject the opposition’s attempts to revert to past policies, saying, “We can’t let another government take us backward.”

Addressing criticisms for supporting Bawumia after contesting him in the NPP presidential race, Agyapong clarified that his support stems from party unity and the shared goal of advancing the party’s agenda.

Agyapong also took aim at the NDC’s failure to implement meaningful social policies, despite their socialist label. He argued that the NPP has effectively implemented policies benefiting the people, positioning the party as a more practical force for social welfare.

As the party gears up for elections, Agyapong’s call for unity and support is crucial. His message is clear: the NPP must stand together to maintain its governance trajectory and address the pressing concerns of its supporters.
