Three ‘Keep Fit Clubs’ in the Atebubu in the Bono East Region have merged to spearhead and promote the physical health and wellbeing of formal and informal sector workers to improve productivity.
Christened “Atebubu Fitness Club”, the club has 127 registered members from various fields with intentions to organize regular physical exercises and to also strengthen the prevailing peace of the town.
Speaking at the launch of the club at Atebubu, which coincided with a dinner, Mr Bless Agbodza, one of the founding members, explained that the club prioritized physical fitness and promotion of social cohesion for peaceful co-existence.
The members also undertook a route march, and paraded through the principal streets of the Atebubu Township.
“Our vision is to also support each other in times of trouble and need”, Mr Baffour Gyan, another founding member stated, urging the members to remain loyal to the activities of the club.
Mr Peter Denteh, an executive member of the club, described the alliance as a dream come true, saying the club was open to all to improve on their physical wellbeing.
Other dignitaries who attended the route march and dinner included Mr Kofi Amoakohene, a former Member of Parliament for the Atebubu Amantin, Nanaba Owusu Afriyie, the Benkumhene (sub-chief) of the Atebubu Traditional Area, and Mr Adam Musah, the 2024 Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Best Farmer.
