Kadjebi YEA Director lauds community policing assistant graduates

Mr Sampson Quarshiga, the Kadjebi District Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has commended thirty-eight young men and women for successfully graduating as Community Policing Assistants (CPAs) under the Agency’s flagship programme.

Speaking at a brief passing-out ceremony, Mr Quarshiga praised the graduates for their discipline and dedication during the training and urged them to honour the State’s investment in their development.

He reminded them that the CPA programme was intentionally designed to complement the work of the Ghana Police Service in promoting peace, security, and law enforcement at the grassroots level.

“You have been given the opportunity to serve. Carry out your mandate with honesty, discipline and neutrality. Remember, the confidence the Agency and the people of Ghana have reposed in you should not be betrayed,” Mr Quarshiga said.

He further charged them to carry out their duties without fear or favour, stressing that they must uphold the dignity of the uniform and protect the fundamental human rights of citizens at all times.

Mr Quarshiga explained that the CPA module of YEA was not only intended to support national security but was also a vital avenue for youth employment and that through this initiative, young Ghanaians would gain income, work experience, and exposure, which were key factors in addressing youth unemployment and idle time in local communities.

He emphasised that the CPAs would work directly under the supervision of the Ghana Police Service, whose professional mentorship ensured their duties remain within legal parameters and established policing standards.

This collaboration, he noted, would build community trust and credibility in the programme.

Mr Quarshiga expressed strong optimism that the deployment of the new CPAs would help reduce crime, enhance police visibility in the Kadjebi District, and ultimately foster peaceful coexistence.

Some graduates expressed their gratitude, pledging to discharge their duties with diligence and serve in safeguarding the citizenry.

Beyond Kadjebi, the CPA initiative has attained significant nationwide traction with recent reports indicating that the Youth Employment Agency, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has trained and graduated a total of 12,000 Community Protection Assistants, who are set for deployment across the country.

Moreover, the scheme is designed around multiple training centres and aims to engage young people aged 18 to 35 years.

The graduates serve an initial two-year contracted term, with the possibility of absorption into the Ghana Police Service based on performance and standards met.
