Jackie Appiah wins Best Actress at 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards for “Red Carpet

Ghanaian screen legend Jackie Appiah has achieved a remarkable career milestone, winning the prestigious Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Her captivating performance in Red Carpet earned her this top honour at the AMAA gala held in Lagos, Nigeria, on November 2.

Jackie’s victory came amidst fierce competition from other talented nominees, solidifying her status as one of Africa’s most celebrated actresses. Red Carpet, directed by Frank Rajah Arase and produced by Samis Media under the visionary guidance of Samira Yakubu, showcases an ensemble cast, including Kalsoume Sinare, Grace Omaboe, Selly Ghally, Roseline Ngissah, Adjetey Annang, Abeiku Santana, Beverly Afaglo, and Deyemi Okanlawon.

Jackie’s journey with the AMAAs began in 2007 when she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Beyonce. In 2010, she claimed her first Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her powerful portrayal in The Perfect Picture, where she played a wife grappling with marital challenges. Since then, Jackie has received numerous nominations and accolades, establishing herself as a leading figure in African cinema.

In addition to the AMAAs, Jackie Appiah has been recognized with awards from the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Ghana Movie Awards, and Pan African Actress of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in 2011, further attesting to her impact and versatility on the screen.
