Iseguri Initiative trains women, young feminists in climate-smart organic gardening

The Iseguri Initiative, a Kadjebi-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) has organised a training programme on innovative organic gardening for women and young feminists aimed at promoting climate-smart agriculture in the Nkwanta South Municipal area.
A total of 51 women and young feminists from Odumase, a farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality and surrounding areas actively participated in this impactful initiative.
Themed: “Climate Change: Its Impacts on Agriculture and Adaptation for Sustainable Practices,” the training addressed timely and critical issues facing local agriculture.
Ms Jemima Etse, the Focal Person for the Iseguri Initiative, in her speech emphasised the vital role of agriculture as the backbone of every nation.
She encouraged participants to adopt innovative farming techniques and take the training seriously to enhance their agricultural skills and resilience.
Ms Rejoice Selorm Azamati, Women in Agricultural Development (WIAD) Officer for the Municipality, highlighted the significant opportunity the Iseguri programme presents.
She urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to their home gardening projects, enabling them to grow chemical-free vegetables.
This, she noted, would lead to healthier meals and improved nutrition for their families—especially their children, who represent the nation’s future.
Beyond providing practical skills, the programme fostered a strong sense of community empowerment, particularly among women and young feminists in the region.
By equipping participants with tools for sustainable agriculture, the Iseguri Initiative is helping to build a more climate-resilient and food-secure future for Nkwanta South Municipality.
