Indian High Commission, Citizen Diplomacy Group celebrate Yoga in Tamale

Citizen Diplomacy Group (Khuda Rakka), in collaboration with the Indian High Commission has celebrated this year’s International Day of Yoga in Tamale engaging in physical exercises to harmonise body, mind and soul.
This year’s International Day of Yoga will be celebrated on June 21, with the theme “One Earth, One Health”, highlighting the connection between individual well-being and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Sunil Kumar, Second Secretary of High Commission of India in Accra, speaking during the celebration, touched on the essence of Yoga saying it brought together people from across the world in the spirit of peace, health and unity.


Mr. Kumar added that “It is a reaffirmation of India’s ancient wisdom and its growing relevance in our modern world.”
He emphasised that, “This year, as we gather here in Tamale, we are reminded of Yoga’s universal message—that of balance, resilience, and inner strength. These are values that transcend borders, cultures, and backgrounds. The fact that Yoga is now practiced globally by millions speaks to its power to heal and connect.”
He urged all “To continue exploring the benefits of Yoga, not only on this day, but as part of your everyday lives. Whether you’re a beginner or a long-time practitioner, every breath, every pose is a step toward greater awareness and well-being.”
Gulkpe-Naa, Paramount Chief of Gulkpegu Traditional Area (Tamale), who was represented by Abdulai Neindow Zakaria, Waluru of Gulkpe-Naa, lauded the celebration and appealed to the Indian High Commission to expand its support packages to include agricultural production in the northern part of the country.
