Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has questioned the feasibility of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) plan to implement a 24-hour economy, given the country’s history of power outages.
Addressing supporters in the Nkoranza South Constituency of the Bono East Region, Dr. Prempeh criticized the NDC’s Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, for promising to allow nightclubs to operate 24 hours a day, despite the country’s struggles with reliable electricity supply.
Dr. Prempeh pointed out that during the NDC’s tenure, the country experienced widespread power outages, known as “dumsor,” which lasted for up to 12 hours a day. He questioned how the NDC plans to implement a 24-hour economy when they failed to provide even a 12-hour economy during their time in office.
The NPP Vice Presidential candidate urged supporters to campaign extensively and avoid divisions within the party. He expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to win the December elections, citing the party’s transformative projects and the readiness of their Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to take office without a honeymoon period.
Parliamentary Candidate for the Nkoranza South Constituency, Harriet Oppong Kyeremateng, thanked the people of Nkoranza for their support and urged them to continue backing the NPP.
