Hon. Asenso Boakye Slams Critics of DRIP Project

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye, has dismissed claims that the government launched the District Roads Improvement Program (DRIP) solely for electoral gains. Speaking in an interview in Kumasi, Asenso Boakye described such critics as having a “belittle mindset”.

The DRIP project, launched by President Akufo-Addo on July 31, aims to enhance the country’s road networks and improve the quality of life for Ghanaians. Asenso Boakye emphasized that the government had long intended to improve road networks, but the necessary equipment only became available this year.

He stressed that the project’s timing, close to the December polls, is coincidental and not politically motivated. Asenso Boakye, who is also the legislature for the Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region, assured that the government is committed to decentralizing development and improving infrastructure, regardless of electoral cycles.

The minister’s comments come after the launch of the DRIP project, which saw the commissioning of essential equipment at Black Star Square. The project marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve road networks and enhance the quality of life for Ghanaians.
