Ho Municipal Assembly restores streetlights to boost security, economy

Mr. Stephen Adom, the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, has launched “Operation No Darkness Phase 5” to restore broken streetlights across the municipality.

“Operation No Darkness” is an exercise by the Ho Municipal Assembly to restore streetlights in communities across the municipality, aimed at improving public safety, security, and economic activity.

Mr. Adom, who led the exercise, said the project reflected the Assembly’s commitment to creating a safer and more vibrant city.

“Working streetlights means enhanced security for all, improved safety for pedestrians and drivers, and a boost to local businesses and economic activities,” he stated.

He explained that well-lit streets help reduce criminal activity while encouraging nightlife and business operations.

“When our streets are bright, our communities thrive — people feel safer walking at night, and traders can operate with confidence,” he added.

The MCE urged residents to collaborate with the Assembly by reporting faulty streetlights for prompt repairs.

“Let’s work together. Thank you for noticing and reporting some of these issues. The more we communicate, the faster we can fix them,” he said.

Mr. Adom reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to maintaining the infrastructure necessary for sustainable urban growth.

“As your MCE, I am committed to ensuring Ho remains a working and economically vibrant municipality for all,” he emphasised.

Community members have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly for areas that had been in darkness for months. The Assembly has assured residents that the operation will cover all major streets and extend to smaller communities.

Mr. Adom calling on citizens to take ownership of public infrastructure and continue supporting the Assembly’s vision for a safer, brighter, and more prosperous Ho.

“Let’s shine brightly together,” he said.
