Heritage Month: ‘Bonofie’ unveils ‘Meko Bono’ festival

‘Bonofie’, the oragnisers of the ‘Meko Bono’ festival has launched the fourth edition the festival, an annual fiesta celebrated to showcase the rich culture and tradition of the chiefs and people of the Bono Region.

The 2025 edition of the festival will be celebrated on the “From unity, heritage to prosperity”, Mr Eric Asante, the Communications Officer of the ‘Bonofie’ stated at a news conference at Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality.

He explained that the festival had evolved into more than culture event, becoming a movement, saying since its inception it had served as a unifying force, bringing together chiefs and people spread across the Bono East and Bono Regions.

Mr Asante said Odomase would hold this year’s edition, starting from August 1 to August 3, saying activities outlined include grand durbar for the opening session, cultural and traditional displays, competitions, and other traditional rituals and performances and gospel rock shows.

Other activities include a beauty pageant, tour to historical and cultural sites, health screening, cooking competition, clean-up exercises, floats, street carnival, artist nights, and the grand durbar to climax the celebration.
