Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Deputy National Security Coordinator, victims of the August 6th, 2025, military helicopter crash have been laid to rest at the new military cemetery at Tse Addo, Accra.
Dr Murtala Muhammed, who was also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, were among the eight national heroes, who died in a military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region while on official duty.
Prior to their burial, the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shaributu led the special Janaaiza prayers for them at the Forecourt of the State House.
The State funeral was attended by President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament.
It was announced at the event that the Islamic funeral of Alhaji Muniru Mohammed would be held on Tuesday, August 12, at his residence in Accra.
While that of Dr Murtala Muhammed would take place in Tamale on date to yet be announced.
