Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has officially inaugurated Dr. Hintermann K. K. Mbroh as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ho Teaching Hospital.
He also inaugurated alongside the CEO an eleven-member governing board of the hospital to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the facility.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Accra, brought together officials from the Ministry of Health, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders from the public and private sectors, according to an HTH release.
The event forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare governance and improve quality service delivery in the country.
Mr. Akandoh, in his address, reaffirmed government’s commitment to building resilient health institutions and expressed optimism about the future of Ho Teaching Hospital under its new leadership. “This inauguration signals our collective resolve to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure effective management of our teaching hospitals,” he stated.
The Minister described Ho Teaching Hospital as a critical facility in Ghana’s healthcare system, serving both as a specialist referral centre and a medical training institution in the Volta Region. He noted that the hospital’s performance directly impacts health outcomes in the region and beyond.
Mr. Akandoh gave assurance that the Ministry remains committed to providing the hospital with the requisite resources, training, and operational support to position it as a regional hub for specialist medical services and advanced academic training.
Dr. Hintermann Mbroh, the newly appointed CEO, assumes the role with extensive experience in clinical care, hospital administration, and health systems management, having served in both domestic and international capacities. His appointment is expected to drive clinical excellence, operational reforms, and academic advancement at the hospital.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Mbroh expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work collaboratively with the Governing Board, hospital staff, and the Ministry of Health to advance the hospital’s mission.
“I am honoured by this responsibility and committed to ensuring that Ho Teaching Hospital remains a beacon of quality healthcare, innovation, and patient-centered service,” he said.
He emphasized that his leadership would uphold the hospital’s core values of Commitment, Accountability, Dedication, Innovation, Professionalism, Integrity, Teamwork, and Safe Care, promising to foster a culture of excellence. “Together, we will reconnect, realign, and reaffirm our collective purpose as a healthcare institution,” Dr. Mbroh added.
Chairing the new Governing Board is Dr. Delanyo Yao Tsidi Dovlo, a seasoned health professional and policy expert. Other members include representatives from medicine, academia, law, finance, and public administration; all tasked with steering the hospital towards higher standards of service, training, and research.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Dovlo pledged the Board’s full support for hospital management and staff, giving assurance of their readiness to work towards the hospital’s continuous growth.
“We are determined to guide this hospital to achieve excellence in healthcare delivery, medical training, and research initiatives,” he noted.
The Ministry of Health, during the event, commended the outgoing management team for their dedicated service and acknowledged the achievements made in improving infrastructure, clinical services, and medical training over the years.
Established as the premier referral and teaching hospital in the Volta Region, Ho Teaching Hospital continues to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s healthcare delivery system, offering specialist services, training healthcare professionals, and contributing to national health policy through research.
