Harmonious Chorale Triumphs in Historic 2025 West African Tour, Unites Nations

Ghana’s acclaimed Harmonious Chorale wrapped a successful 10-day tour of Togo, Benin, and Nigeria, enchanting audiences and aired the unifying force of music and Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

The tour, held from April 25 to May 5, 2025, showcased the choir’s exceptional command of classical, traditional, and contemporary African choral music, with resounding success.

From Lomé to Lagos, performances drew standing ovations, heartfelt tributes, and dynamic collaborations with local artists—affirming that music truly transcends borders.

In Togo, Ewe masterpieces such as Esrom Miele by Ephraim Amu and Eleagbe Lo by T.W. Kwami received thunderous applause.

Special Guest Madame Marie-Josée Trenou, President of the AEA Foundation, commended the choir for promoting continental unity and youth empowerment.

The sold-out concert at the Grand Rex Auditorium attracted diplomats, corporate leaders, and members of the public.

In Benin, a collaboration with La Chorale Paix Divine de Godomey produced a breathtaking rendition of Oye, composed by James Varrick Armaah.

The choir’s linguistic dexterity shone through performances of French classical pieces La Nuit and Duo des Fleurs, while a surprise birthday tribute to composer Armaah electrified the crowd.

Nigerian real estate magnate Sir Olu Okeowo hosted an intimate evening featuring Yoruba hymns such as Agbo Ju O and gospel classics like My Help Comes from the Lord, stirring deep emotion and moving members of Nigeria’s elite to tears.

The Shell Hall Grand Concert delivered a sold-out celebration of Nigerian-Ghanaian musical fusion, with Messiah Baba Mi by Dr. Ayo Oluranti and the pidgin anthem Una Hear Me So by David Aina bringing the audience to its feet.

Archbishop Dr Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria and Choir Board member, praised the choir’s mission and pledged continued support.

Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, Chairman of the Board of Governors and President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, described the tour as “more than a series of concerts—it was a movement.”

“Harmonious Chorale has shown that Africa’s cultural wealth, when shared, becomes a catalyst for unity and progress. We return with hearts full of gratitude to God, our hosts, and every soul touched by this journey,” he stated.

Founded in 2007, Harmonious Chorale stands as Ghana’s premier gospel and classical choir, celebrated for its technical excellence, cultural authenticity, and international collaborations.

Under the direction of James Varrick Armaah, the choir has garnered numerous accolades, including top honors at the World Choir Games in South Africa and the Ghana Gospel Music
