GRIDCo 2024/25 national service personnel donate medical equipment to Tema General Hospital

The 2024/25 batch of national service personnel serving at the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), with support from the management of the company, have donated essential medical equipment to the Tema General Hospital to support quality healthcare delivery.

 

As part of their service, GRIDCo’s national service personnel are tasked with implementing a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative annually, positively impacting society.

 

The donation, which included crank manual beds, hospital mattresses, a dental chair, and other medical instruments, aimed to enhance patient care and improve the hospital’s capacity to serve the community.

 

Ms Keziah Ewurama Nuamah Nyarko, President of GRIDCo’s 2024/2025 NSPs, highlighted the significance of the project, stating that it reflected GRIDCo’s support to communities within its operational area.

 

Ms Nyarko expressed heartfelt gratitude to the hospital’s administration for collaborating and supporting them, noting that their dedication had been extremely successful.

 

She added that the service personnel were proud to contribute their widow’s mite towards saving lives and improving conditions at the hospital.

 

Mr Isaac Issahaku Mumuni, GRIDCo’s Director of Human Resources, commended the national service personnel for showing commitment beyond their one-year mandate.

 

Mr Mumuni stated that the gesture reflected GRIDCo’s core corporate value of care, which emphasises compassion, responsibility, and service to society.

 

According to him, the initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, which promotes healthy lives and well-being for all.

 

He explained that while GRIDCo played a vital role in national development by transmitting bulk electricity to hospitals, homes, small businesses, and industries, adding that the company’s responsibility extended beyond keeping the lights on.

 

He stated that the Tema General Hospital was selected as a beneficiary due to its crucial role in providing life-saving healthcare services to residents of the Tema Metropolitan area, including GRIDCo employees and national service personnel working in the community.

 

“This hospital would be the first point of contact in case of any medical emergency, making it a fitting recipient of our support,” he said.

 

Apostle Dr Samuel Obeng Mensah, the Administrator of Tema General Hospital, expressed gratitude for the gesture and commended the personnel for their support to the hospital, while appealing to GRIDCo management to adopt one of the units in the hospital.

 

Mr Frederick Opare Safo, vice-president of GRIDCo’s 2024/2025 NSPs, emphasised the significance of the project and expressed gratitude to the management and staff of GRIDCo for their unwavering support and guidance, highlighting their leadership and vision as instrumental in shaping the initiative.

 

He also expressed appreciation to the Communications and HR team for their tireless efforts in supervising and advising on the project, acknowledging their invaluable dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence.
