The Volta and Oti Chapter of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will honour some distinguished individuals and institutions for championing media development and plurality in the two regions over the years at a dinner on Saturday, May 3.
The event, which would he held at the Volta Press Centre in Ho, is to commemorate this year’s World Press Freedom Day (WPFD).
It will offer an opportunity to media practitioners across the regions to socialise and interact with retired journalists and media stakeholders.
Ghana News Agency gathered that Captain George Nfodjo (Rtd), a former journalist, District Chief Executive of Ho, and an ambassador designate, would be the chairman of the event with Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, being the Guest of Honour.
Also, Madam Maria Kwami Gwira, former Director of Public Affairs at University of Alliance Science (UHAS) and an International Media and Communications Strategist, is expected to deliver the keynote address on the global theme, “Reporting in the brave new world – The impact of artificial intelligence on press freedom and the media.”
The World Press Freedom Day is commemorated on May 3, every year.
