According to Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana’s education system has made tremendous progress since the current government took office seven years ago. Speaking at the Accra International Conference Center, Dr. Adutwum highlighted the various initiatives and policies implemented to transform the education sector, bringing it up to par with world-class standards.
Key Achievements:
– Teacher Development: Significant strides have been made in teacher professional and welfare development, ensuring educators are equipped to provide high-quality instruction.
– Infrastructure Expansion: The government has invested in building world-class structures and expanding existing ones, providing a conducive learning environment for students.
– STEM Education: The introduction of STEM schools and a new curriculum has deepened the learning of technology, preparing students for the demands of the 21st century.
– TVET Education: Technical, vocational, education, and training (TVET) programs have been improved, offering students alternative paths to success.
– Practical Learning: The government has discouraged rote learning, instead promoting practical learning to foster critical thinking and creativity.
Dr. Adutwum expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for their support and appreciation of his efforts in transforming the education sector. He also thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for entrusting him with the responsibility and giving him the autonomy to drive progress. Leaving behind his three schools in Los Angeles, Dr. Adutwum returned to Ghana to answer the President’s call, and he is confident that he has not disappointed.
