Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II has thrown his weight behind Alan Kyerematen, saying Ghana will flourish under his leadership. Speaking at his palace in Offinso, Ashanti Region, Nana Dwamena Akenten II initially didn’t understand why Alan chose the butterfly as his symbol, but after some reflection, he realized it was a brilliant choice.
The chief explained that butterflies play a crucial role in pollination, transferring pollen between plants, allowing them to bear fruit. He drew a parallel between this process and Alan’s potential presidency, saying “when Alan comes, Ghana will bear fruit”. This endorsement is significant, especially since Alan Kyerematen is currently on a 19-day tour of the Ashanti Region ahead of the December 7 polls.
Alan Kyerematen, a former Trade Minister, recently announced his decision to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election after withdrawing from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries. His campaign symbol, the monarch butterfly, represents change, hope, and transformation. With Nana Dwamena Akenten II’s endorsement, Alan’s movement gains momentum, potentially appealing to voters seeking a break from traditional party politics.
