The Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP) awards have been launched in Accra to recognize and reward dedicated and hardworking teachers. The event, themed “Celebrating Excellence: Valorising Our Teachers,” will take place from October 3 to 5, 2024, at KNUST in Kumasi.
The awards feature various categories, including Most Outstanding Teacher, Best College of Education Teacher, and Best Non-Teaching Staff. Deputy Minister of Education Rev. John Ntim Fordjour emphasized the importance of recognizing teachers, stating that education is a strategic tool for national transformation.
The Ghana Education Service aims to improve learning outcomes for all children without discrimination and prioritize teachers’ welfare. The service is also working on implementing the GES Management Information System platform to house relevant data on schools, staff, learners, and infrastructure.
The Overall winner in the Teacher Category will receive a three-bedroom apartment, while other categories offer cash prizes, vehicles, and recognition. Sponsors include the Ghana Education Trust Fund, GCB Bank Limited, and GLICO Pensions, among others.
The event seeks to celebrate excellence in education and valorize the contributions of teachers to Ghana’s educational system.
