According to him, an Oral Cholera Vaccination campaign was conducted between November 30 and December 19, 2024, in hotspot areas including Awutu Senya East, Ahanta West, Effia-Kwesimintim, Sekondi-Takoradi, and Shama. Out of 792,482 eligible individuals, 662,906 received vaccinations.
Dr. Aboagye noted a significant decline in cases following the campaign, with Awutu Senya East reporting no confirmed cases after the exercise.
He urged the public to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as diarrhea or vomiting.
âAs we celebrate the Christmas season, it is essential to prioritize hygiene by drinking potable water, consuming thoroughly cooked food, washing fruits and vegetables properly, and washing hands with soap under running water before eating or preparing food and after using the toilet,â Dr. Aboagye advised.
