The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has launched the second edition of its Excellence Awards, aimed at recognizing and rewarding exceptional health workers and institutions for their outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery in the country.
The awards scheme, established in 2022, seeks to inspire and motivate health professionals to deliver high-quality services, improving healthcare outcomes for Ghanaians. This year’s edition features three categories: Individual Staff Awards, Institutional and Leadership Awards, and Special Awards.
Nominations opened on July 1, 2024, and will close on July 23, 2024. The evaluation process has been digitalized to ensure transparency and efficiency. The national awards ceremony is slated for October 11, 2024.
The GHS aims to recognize 2,578 individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions, achievements, and performance at the district, regional, headquarters, and national levels.
“This initiative acknowledges the dedication and hard work of our health workers, who are the backbone of our healthcare system,” said Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Director-General of the GHS. “We believe that recognizing excellence will motivate our staff to strive for even greater heights in healthcare delivery.”
The Ghana Health Service Excellence Awards is a significant step towards promoting a culture of excellence in the healthcare sector, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for the people of Ghana.
