Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has heaped praise on Kwasi Sibo for his performance against Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualification encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Sibo, who plays for Spanish club Real Oviedo, received a late call-up to join the Black Stars squad for the crucial Mali encounter, especially with Elisha Owusu being suspended for the clash.
The midfielder who was making his debut for the Black Stars was one of the top performers in the match as he helped Ghana secure 1-0 win over Mali to edge closer to 2026 World Cup qualification.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Otto Addo praised the confidence of the midfielder in a very difficult match against Mali.
“First of all, big congrats for him. I think he really did well. It’s not easy to come from a different environment to fit into the squad, but yeah, he knows a lot of players already in the team, and he connected well.
“He’s very, very confident, and I think he did extremely well, especially when you see that this was his first match. He’s a warrior throughout, you could see,” Otto Addo told pressmen.
Commenting about the future prospect of Sibo, Otto Addo believes things would get better for the young lad but still maintains his future call-up would depend on his performance with his club side.
“I think for the future, things will even get better, but like all players, his performance in his club will decide for the next call-up. But the next window is so close, and I’m pretty sure that he will be called again after this performance,” he said.
The Black Stars of Ghana would close out their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign in October when they come up against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
