GFA President Simeon-Okraku Launches Construction of 40-Bed Facility

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has begun construction on a 40-bed accommodation facility at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The project, funded in part by the World Cup 2022 allocation from the government, aims to upgrade the centre to meet international standards.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku led the sod-cutting ceremony, accompanied by Executive Council members, Congress delegates, former officials, and media representatives. The facility will provide basic amenities, including a gymnasium, swimming pool, and Futsal Arena, to create a professional environment for national teams.

The upgrade includes installing floodlights at the AstroTurf, constructing top-range natural grass pitches, and building a gymnasium, swimming pool, and Futsal Arena. These enhancements demonstrate the GFA’s commitment to improving football infrastructure and providing adequate facilities for training and development.

The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence has served as a key training and camping base for Ghana’s national teams. With these planned improvements, the centre will further solidify its role in nurturing and developing football talent, facilitating the growth of the sport at the national level.
