Black Stars coach Otto Addo and his coaching staff are owed arrears of salaries, according to Henry Asante Twum, director of communications for the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
However, Asante Twum could not confirm how many months of salaries are outstanding or if there is a timetable for clearing the arrears.
“I am not sure of the exact duration, but there are salary arrears. We owe him [Otto Addo] a few months, and it is not just him but also the coaching staff,” Asante Twum told Joy FM.
“It is the responsibility of the ministry to handle this. As this is under their jurisdiction, I cannot speak for the ministry, but what I do know is that it is several months behind schedule.”
Following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Otto Addo’s future is under scrutiny, with many calling for his dismissal.
Asante Twum stressed the need to consult with the ministry, particularly on contract termination and compensation packages.
“It is absolutely necessary to consult the ministry, because at the end of the day if the coach is fired and there is a payment issue, the responsibility lies with the ministry, not the GFA.”
