The CEO of Medimafo Herbal Hospital, Dr. Prof. Adu Gyamfi, has raised concerns about the devastating impact of galamsey (illegal mining) on Ghana’s herbal medicine sector. Dr. Gyamfi warns that the destruction of medicinal plants by illegal miners threatens the sustainability of herbal healthcare.
“Galamsey is collapsing our work,” Dr. Gyamfi emphasized. “The plants we rely on for medicine are being destroyed, and our hospital is suffering as a result.”
Dr. Gyamfi appealed to the government to integrate herbal medicine into public healthcare, recognizing its proven efficacy. “Herbal medicine can complement conventional healthcare. We urge the government to recognize and support our sector.”
To mark his birthday, Dr. Gyamfi donated:
– 50 TVs
– 100 mobile phones
– Rice to vulnerable patients undergoing treatment at Medimafo Herbal Hospital
– A new car to a patient who has benefited from Dr. Time Da so medicine
This gesture underscores Dr. Gyamfi’s commitment to community welfare and healthcare accessibility.
“We cannot watch as our herbal medicine sector is destroyed by galamsey,” Dr. Gyamfi urged. “I implore the government to take decisive action against illegal mining and support our efforts to provide quality healthcare to Ghanaians.”
